Origins of New Life Tabernacle & Cell Ministries

While working in the Zambian Air Force, Daniel Mayapi met Jesus Christ.  He received his ministry training at AFMIN (African Ministries Network), a four-year diploma in Christian Leadership and Church Planting principles.  In 1980 Daniel and others came up with the military and security services for Jesus team whose main vision was to plant Christian churches in Army barracks, Air Force bases, prisons,  National Service Camps and police camps. This team under the leadership of Daniel Mayapi managed to plant churches in most military and security bases country wide. Some of the churches he planted while in ZAF are Fountain of Life church currently being led by Bishop Kamangala. Others are Fountain of Living waters church led by Bishop Nkausu and Spring of life church led by Reverend Musoni. Daniel groomed other spiritual children of which some became first chaplains in the Defense forces like Reverend Ngwira for Zambia Army, the late Reverend Richard Mumba and pastor Ng`ambi just to mention a few.  This team continued doing God`s work secretly as it was not allowed in the colonial era to show publicly in barracks that you were worshiping God.

After rendering service in ZAF for twenty years, Daniel retired from the military in 1992 and concentrated in ministry work. The following year in 1993 he heard a call from God for rural ministry which he took seriously. This resulted in him and his family deciding to leave Lusaka the capital city of Zambia for Itezhi-tezhi District. Upon their arrival they settled down and went to serious prayer and fasting on one of the surrounding mountains within Itezhi-tezhi district where God gave him a conviction to start ministry work within the district. There was a mobilization of people and the first service was conducted on the 3rd of July 1994. This was the start of New Life Tabernacle and Cell ministries church in Zambia. The church concentrated on its vision of evangelism, church planting and leadership training through cell ministry system.  Today,  New Life Tabernacle and Cell ministries have than twenty branch churches.
