22 March 2018 – The Esther School

The Esther school, about 15km east of Chongwe, on the Great East Road to Malawi, had its origins in the GEMS clubs of the Christian Reformed Church.  It caters for the most vulnerable children in that area and provides opportunities that would otherwise not even have been dreamt of.  Both Karen and Maria are involved in the GEMS clubs in Canada and it was a wonderful opportunity to see the school and meet the students!

It was also a learning opportunity for Daniel and Florence and we trust that the relationships will grow.  Many ideas were exchanged.  Daniel hopes to bring teachers of Escosa Christian Academy for a few days to learn from The Esther School teachers, while detail notes were taken on the features of the kitchen, which is similar in size as the one under construction at the Impact Zambia Training Centre.

It was the last night that the team was together.  We used the time sharing a meal and reflecting on the past two weeks.  I feel blessed by all we had experienced on our Mission Support Trip with Daniel, Florence, Jako, Amber and their children.  When I think of them, I think of Romans 10:15 “And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: ‘How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!’”  Every day they bring the Good News to those in their communities.  I thank God for them!
